who am i?

my name is sarah hansel (they/them). I am a 22 year old queer artist, performer, and creator with a motivation to create unique and personalized art catered to those who can appreciate it.

I was born and raised in the very small town of Keene, NH, and despite being around a number of sports-driven communities, I began dance and theater arts at a young age, and continued this passion through to college. I attended Muhlenberg College, graduating in 2024 with a double major in theater and dance performance. At Muhlenberg, I was able to pursue a number of different interests; exploring the circus arts, with a focus on aerial silks.

While in school I also took a semester abroad in Arezzo, Italy, where I completed the dance program at Accademia Dell’Arte under the teaching of Alessio Trivisani and trained ballet with Carolina Basagni at her personal studio, Centro Danza. While abroad, I became a member of the Boyz With Apple artist collective in 2023, later performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland that year in the premiere performance of Purgatorio.  Simultaneously, Sarah completed the Vizio Makeup Academy Online Program and received their certification in professional makeup artistry.  With a strong interest in Special-FX makeup, they also learned under the tutelage of La Sonya Gunter, professional makeup artist to both Billy Porter and Renée Elise Goldsberry.

My art is completely hand designed and created by myself. While often inspired by other creators, I try to create entirely unique pieces that often cater to a specific style or aesthetic.

I use materials both new and reused, usually gathered from thrift stores or gifted items, and combine the use of both to create something entirely new.

Living and growing up in a small town defines a lot about my experiences and how I live my life now.  I was always coined as the weird, artsy theater kid in a world of sports stars and athletes. Over the years of expanding my field and working with a variety of people and interests, I found myself no longer trying to apply a facade. I strive to accept and explore my own identity as a queer artist and performer, as well as my own individual self.  I find my passion in creation, and by creating from my own self interests and fascinations, I hope to make works of intrigue and inspire others around me to seek further exploration of myself as well as themselves.

While most of my work is thought of originally, I do take custom requests for both jewelry and artwork. Contact me below for more information!
